5.22.2020 Protocol for Reconciling and Up-dating the Health Resources on the Health Facilities and COVID Tracking Google Map with Imported Data

As of 5.22.2020 I have reconciled the A and B Healthcare facilities on this map: The aggregated data is in the layers: District Health Facilities and Health Centres.

In order to make our Health Resources Map a one stop shop that is up to date, we want to aggregate all information we can find into it. We also want to specifically have the longitude and latitude clealy in our spreadsheets attached to the map as well as the written address. This means that if Google Map's auto-populate feature is used to locate a facility, the address, lat and long are copied into the data fields in the edit dialogue box so the will be exportable as CSV, XLSX or KML files that can be used in other GIS applications that will not auto-populate by address alone.

Collaborators can be shared into the map to assist with this labor intensive process.

1. Open the Google Map

2. Import data from partners, placing datasets from the different sources in different layers

3. Establish a new layer for the aggregated data, creating enough columns in the data spreadsheet attached to that layer to accomodate all information from all sources

4. Activate the aggregation layer

5. Type in the name of the health facility in Google Maps

a. If the facility auto-populates in the active layer, it will now have input fields for all sources from all layers of the map, theability to upload a pictures, and the ability to change the icon

(1.) Place all information from all layers from all sources into the active auto-populated dialogue box

(2.) Link to the relevant sources of detail on the facility that are maintained in the Ministry of Health database accessibleat this link. (Note that there is a map with points on it that shows the name of the facility only. This reconciliationmakes the information in the spreadsheet below directly accessible through our Google Map.)

(3) Insert the hours of operation in the Status Field, and add information in the Additional Information field that did notauto-populate in Google Maps, such as the phone number

(4) If the facility has its own website, enter it in the Additional Information field as well

b. If the facility does not auto-populate, then combine the information imported from collaborating partner spreadsheets withwith information available from the Ministry of Health links and the facility website (if any). Include the phone number

6. Search for a picture of the facility if none auto-populated in Google Maps. Check to see if an attribution is required. Add the picture (with attribution if necessary). If a picture auto-populates on Google Maps, it will also autopopulate on your point if you found the point using the Google Map search bar. Therefore you do not need to import a new picture.

7. Use the reconciled map, which has the facility phone numbers to call and verify the information at each facility

a. Record information, such as OPEN, CLOSED, COVID-19 QUARANTINE FACILITY, COVID-19 TEST CENTER, etc in the Statusfield and activate the field to make it visible.

b Check to see if Google Map autopopulates information that is visible from the data spreadsheet, and hide fields thatduplicate information by deactivating the check box if desired.
